Baro institute (BIST) is an On-line institute of science & technology which offers science & technology courses with selected business courses and specialised humanities.

We are a modern On- line institute of higher learning one of its Kind offering Diplomas and certificates in science and technology related courses like pharmaceutical sciences, drug chemistry, industrial chemistry, chemical engineering, toxicology, Forensic sciences Like Forensic Chemistry, Oil & Gas engineering, food science, Brewing Technology, biological sciences, clinical chemistry, microbiology, chemical and structural engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Technology & Engineering,  Environmental Sciences, Climate Change & Renewable Energy Systems, Public Health etc.

Who are our Targets?

BIST as an institution of higher learning offers Diplomas and certificates to undergraduates directly from Secondary Ordinary level and A ‘level in Uganda and their equivalent for international students. BIST offers also post graduate certificates and diplomas to graduates and professionals who want to acquire professional qualifications towards areas of specialisation.

BIST offers 70% practical teaching and training through collaboration with industries, business & institutions to act as the centres for training & learning. This shifts the lectures from the theoretical environment in lecture rooms to the field work for professional skilled training. This enhances the graduation of well skilled and prepared human resource ready to start work. The 30% of the teaching and training is a theoretical form of teaching to offer the students the introduction to the concepts of the courses and the general guidelines towards research and practical training offered on line & some cases face to face session. BIST hires and employs trained and experienced professionals to tutor and lecture at the Institute, there is a high-level reliance on experienced professionals from industry, business and other institutions through various collaborations to offer first-hand knowledge and skills to the students. This model offers a competitive advantage over the existing institutions which offer theoretical teaching with limited hands on training through simply short time Internships and industrial training.
